There are many recipes by this name. There is even one that the Tupperware ladies cook in their microwaves to show how great the Tupperware is.
You will need:
1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup cocoa, divided
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1 1/2 cups water
In a 9 inch square cake pan, combine the flour, 3/4 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt. Blend in butter and 1/4 cup of the cocoa. Add to the dry ingredients along with the milk and vanilla. Mix well with a fork.
Combine the remaining 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa and nuts. Sprinkle over the batter. Carefully pour hot water over all. DO NOT STIR. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes.
Serve hot with vanilla ice cream. Out of this world! And very rich.
